DPR Qualified Applicator's License (QAL) Practice Test

The primary goal of understanding pesticide resistance management is to prolong the effectiveness of pest control products. This involves strategies and practices designed to minimize the development of resistance in pest populations against pesticides. By using a variety of tactics, such as rotating different classes of pesticides, incorporating non-chemical control methods, and applying products only when necessary, applicators can help maintain the efficacy of the pesticides over time. Effective resistance management not only extends the life of existing control measures but also helps ensure that they remain effective against targeted pests, ultimately leading to better pest control outcomes and reduced economic losses for producers.

In contrast, increasing pesticide sales or enhancing resistance in pests would counteract the goal of effective pest management, while reducing the need for personal protective equipment may be a side benefit of effective application practices. However, it is not a main objective of resistance management. The focus is primarily on sustainability and support for effective pest control solutions.
